The Mastroberardino family has lived in the socio-cultural context of wine for over two centuries, based on the most reliable historical reconstructions.

The first traces of its presence in Irpinia date back to the Bourbon land registry, in the mid-eighteenth century, when the family chose the village of Atripalda as its headquarters, where the ancient cellars are still located, and from there originated a lineage that linked indissolubly their fate to the cult of wine.

Ten generations, since then, have led the family business, amidst ups and downs, as always happens in the stories of family businesses of more ancient origin. The family estates are located in Irpinia, cradle of three DOCGs: Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino and Taurasi, distributed in the various areas of the territory with the aim of preserving their identity and ensuring their protection.

Mastroberardino Winery

Mastroberardino Winery is a cornerstone of Italian winemaking and is recognized as a champion of native grape varieties from Irpinia and Campania. This family-owned company has a rich historical heritage, having been founded in 1878 in the Atripalda region of Avellino, and for ten generations, they have upheld the winemaking traditions of the region. Their estates are located in Irpinia, the birthplace of three DOCG wines: Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino, and Taurasi. These estates are distributed throughout the various areas of the region with the aim of preserving their identity and ensuring their safeguarding. Mastroberardino has always placed great care in protecting and promoting grape varieties like Aglianico, Fiano, Greco, Falanghina, Piedirosso, and Coda di Volpe, whose origins can be traced back to Greek colonization and Roman civilization.

Mastroberardino for the planet

The Mastroberardino family has, for many years, implemented a system for managing their production activities that takes into account all the significant aspects for assessing environmental impact and achieving sustainable production. By identifying four key indicators (Earth, Air, Vineyard, and Water), the company keeps a constant check on the impact of its production in terms of sustainability and fosters a process of continuous improvement. This includes reducing carbon dioxide emissions and limiting water and energy consumption. Mastroberardino is at the forefront of valuing and preserving living organisms and ecological systems in the areas where its business activities take place, from the vineyards to the winery. They have established and continually refined procedures that form a coordinated and integrated series of management systems for the entire cycle of natural resource use, from sustainable raw material consumption to careful control of emissions and waste. Over the decades, the company has voluntarily subjected itself to rigorous scrutiny by external organizations, certifying its management procedures according to the highest international standards.
