Along the slopes of Vesuvius, streaks of fire shone and glowed against the background of the night's darkness, and from the rows of vines a red light could be seen, it was the moon, a fiery red moon.

The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in previously sanitised plastic crates. A maximum of 15 kg of grapes is placed in each crate to prevent the grapes from being naturally crushed during transport. A bag containing dry ice is placed on top of each box to keep the grapes at a temperature that prevents premature and uncontrolled fermentation. Once in the winery, the grapes are processed in a grape crusher, this process allows us to separate the stems from the grapes and to crush them, after this phase the destemmed grapes are placed in steel silos, where fermentation at a controlled temperature of 24/26° lasts for about 8/10 days after fermentation the must is placed in maturation tanks to then be processed and bottled.

Le Lune del Vesuvio Winery

The family-run agricultural and processing company "Le Lune del Vesuvio" is located in the hilly area of the Vesuvius National Park at an altitude of approximately 400 meters.
Situated a short distance from the urban center of Terzigno, it covers an area of about 1 hectare right in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, overlooking the wonders of the ancient Pompeii excavations, the island of Capri, and the Gulf of Naples.

Their production system focuses on vineyards, fruit, and seasonal vegetables (such as the "Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio") and follows conventional agriculture methods on the typical terraced fields. In the adjacent cellar, the grapes from their vineyards contribute to the production of Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio wine.

A product born out of passion and love for one's own land.

In a setting that carefully combines the environment of pure and pristine mountains, surrounded by the jewels of the sea from the island of Capri and the coastlines of Sorrento and Amalfi, Andrea and Salvatore Forno preserve the traditional winemaking heritage of Campania. The history of Vesuvio Lacryma Christi is a blend of myth and reality, legend and popular beliefs, contributing to creating an aura of alluring mystery around this famous wine.

One of these legends suggests that Lucifer, expelled from Paradise, tore a piece of it to steal and create the Gulf of Naples on Earth. Where he sank, Mount Vesuvius was born.

Jesus Christ, noticing the theft, wept profusely out of sorrow, and from his tears that fell directly onto Vesuvius, a vine plant sprouted, and from the grape of that vine, the most renowned wine of Vesuvius was born: Lacryma Christi. The wines of Le Lune del Vesuvio spend several months in stainless steel tanks, except for some selections that undergo maturation in barrels, mostly a combination of new and used wood, primarily the "Cratere Lacryma Christi."
