The Montesommavesuvio company is located in the municipality of Pollena Trocchia, province of Naples, an integral part of the Vesuvius National Park, at mt. 400 above sea level, with an extension of 4.5 hectares completely terraced, it has an excellent South-West exposure. The composition of the soil is essentially lava-sandy, due to the lapillus residues of the Vesuvian eruptions. The work and commitment lead us successfully to the cultivation of those native vines that participate in the formation of white and red Lacryma Christi, Catalanesca and Falanghina.

Founded in 2000 the company was born from the brilliant intuition of prof. Giuseppe Campanile, former teacher as well as agricultural expert, who acquires and cultivates hectares of abandoned land in the magnificent scenery which is the Vesuvius National Park.

The company, over the years thanks to the passion of Nicola Campanile, owner and son of the founder Giuseppe, specializes in the cultivation, transformation and enhancement of native vines using only the grapes produced.

The acquisition and consequent cultivation of abandoned land combined with the research and application of the best biological control techniques make the Montesommavesuvio farm an exhausting assertion of valorisation as a final goal.

Rooted in the Land of Vesuvius: Celebrating Native Vines Since 2000

History

Montesommavesuvio Winery is located in the municipality of Pollena Trocchia, province of Naples, an integral part of the Vesuvius National Park, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level, covering an area of 4.5 hectares, entirely terraced with excellent southwestern exposure. The soil composition is mainly volcanic-sandy, resulting from the residues of Vesuvian eruptions. Our hard work and commitment have led us to successfully cultivate native grape varieties that contribute to the production of Lacryma Christi white and red wines, Catalanesca, and Falanghina. Founded in the year 2000, the winery was born from the brilliant intuition of Professor Giuseppe Campanile, a former teacher and agricultural expert, who acquired and cultivated hectares of abandoned land in the magnificent setting of the Vesuvius National Park. Over the years, thanks to the passion of Nicola Campanile, the owner and son of the founder Giuseppe, the company has specialized in the cultivation, transformation, and promotion of native grape varieties, using only the grapes produced on-site. The acquisition and subsequent cultivation of abandoned lands, combined with research and the application of the best organic farming techniques, make Montesommavesuvio Agricultural Company a tireless advocate for the promotion of local viticulture as the ultimate goal.

Values

Within the company, fundamental principles are upheld:

Respect for Nature

The company has refrained from using pesticides from day one, opting for non-invasive cultivation. Pest control is managed by preserving and controlling natural antagonists in the environment.

Native Grape Varieties

Our wines originate from the plants of native grape varieties, grafted on their own rootstock.

Controlled Winemaking

Controlled winemaking is one of the essential processes for transforming the grapes that the company employs. This is done to create wines that are unique and imbued with a strong Vesuvian character.
