Locally known as Palummina or Per '' e Palummo.
Piedirosso owes its name, as is well known, to the color that the rachis and the bunches take on as the bunch approaches full ripeness. If in the rest of the region for fame and diffusion Piedirosso is only second after Aglianico, playing the role of supporting actor, in the province of Naples it rises to the role of absolute protagonist.
