Legend has it that Lacryma Christi, the best known and most appreciated Campania wine in the world, is born from a black earth made fertile by the Lord's tears in the heart of the Volcano where the Estate stands: “Le Lune del Vesuvio”.
Four hectares of greenery about 300 meters above sea level, in the middle of the Vesuvius National Park, facing the wonders of the excavations of ancient Pompeii, the island of Capri and the Gulf of Naples.
It is here that the famous wine of Vesuvius is produced, Lacryma Christi, with grapes from vineyards cultivated with passion and love from generation to generation.
Climbing on the slopes of Vesuvius, the roots of the vines sink into the lava soil that does not need to be watered as it retains moisture and then releases it. They are grown in the foothills up to 400 meters high and derive mineral character, thickness and power from the volcanic soil.
Through a selective choice of the best grape suppliers of the Vesuvius National Park, in the territory of Terzigno, in a context of natural beauty and great charm, the Forno family produces Lacryma Christi, winner of numerous awards and recognitions, such as the Gold Award which was awarded at the Merano Winefestival in 2021.
Since 1940 the family has achieved increasingly prestigious goals in the wine sector, consistently pursuing its mission: to do business by enhancing its land and its great wines without ever losing the strong bond with its peasant origins.
Among the wines produced we also recognize Falanghina which owes its name to the Falernina grape linked to the very common phalanx in the province of Naples. A wine, which boasts strong qualities of acidity, especially in the sparkling type. Among the other varieties stand out the white-berried Coda di Volpe, the Aglianico, the aristocratic prince of the black berried vines of the South and the Piedirosso which owes its name to the color that the rachis and the scraps take on with the approach of full ripening of the bunch.
