The old varieties of Vesuvius apricots are extremely sweet, with higher organoleptic quality than modern varieties, but more delicate and perishable and therefore difficult to handle in modern fruit and vegetable markets. The names are strange, to name just a few: boccuccia, pellecchiella, vitillo, cafona, vicienzo e' maria. They are the result of an intense activity of varietal selection carried out over the centuries by Vesuvian farmers to obtain the best from one of the most profitable resources of this land. What makes them different is not only their morphological aspects but also their organoleptic characteristics: the pellecchiella is considered one of the best for its particularly sweet flavour and extraordinary aroma.
They are ideal for cakes, snacks and breakfasts.
